- All Day Preschool Posted on 7/27/2009 1:59:00 AM by kanine15

Hi,
We are looking to move to Southlake area and I was hoping for some suggestions on an all day preschool? My 3 1/2 year old daughter currently goes to an in home preschool that is excellent. I am looking for one with structure and a small teacher to child ratio. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
ThanksComments

I have heard great things about Creme de la Creme, Reading Friends and Montessori.

The elementary schools here have a great preschool program starting at age 3 but it fills up very quickly. Chapel Hill School at White's Chapel Church has a great preschool program. 9am-2pm with days depending on age of child

We did a lot of research on this and visited with all the local preschools when we moved to the area 1.5 years ago. We are highly satisfied with the quality of teaching and family feel of Primrose of Southlake. Our oldest was in Private Pre-K and K, our youngest has done the rounds from Infant to Early Preschool. Nancy & Frank Cangelosi, the owners of this franchise, also own Primrose of Hidden Lakes. They and their staff have been very accommodating and supportive of our needs.

Hi, I just moved here Oct 18th from Florida and I have the same situation as you. 3 1/2 years old son, whom went to an in home preschool...small ratio...his teacher was excellent. I was wondering what you decided on for preschool or did you find an in home preschool locally?

Hello ladies
I too, am needing preschool recommendations. I also have a 3 1/2 yr. old. I loved where he went but they didn't have long enough hours and no after school care program.
If I could wave a magic wand I would want the following:
Small ratios, bible based program, chapel / art / music / computers / spanish. Wee Learn curriculum was very effective for my son (and what they had at the last place). A warm & fuzzy feeling with the teachers/staff, windows in the classrooms, a nice big indoor and outdoor play area, a separate lunch area, separate chapel area, field trips. 1 hour or less on the nap time, if at all. Doesn't have to just be Southlake. Also open to Grapevine & HEB area. I could really use 3-4 days a week 9:00-6:00.
Been taking a lot of tours of preschools lately. Creme De LeCreme is a beautiful facility but has too much of a "clinical" vibe for me. I would also be open to a homebased preschool as long as I knew the individual was serious about what they did and didn't just sit the kids in front of the television.
Looking to find something soon..
Any suggestions/ideas appreciated....

Have you looked at Premier Academy in Westlake? I have 2 children there and I'm very happy. They have several locations in the DFW area.

Looking at your "wish list", they have the following:
1) Small ratio, windows in the classroom and warm fuzzy feeling
2) Bible Based program- They use Abeka vs the Wee learn that you are seeking
3) Music teacher, Spanish Teacher and P.E. Teacher
4) They do art in class but not a separate art teacher
5) Computers is available at an extra charge as well as some additional music, dance and stretch n grow classes. My daughter takes the computer class and loves it.
6) Nice outdoor play area, separate lunch area and field trips at least at the Pre-K age (not sure about 3 1/2).
Nap times are at least one hour. I'm not sure if they do part-time because I've never asked. Not located in a church so no separate chapel area. They have toys and play things in each classroom, of course, but no separate large indoor play center.
The thing that I'm most impressed with is the curriculum. I feel like my child is really learning and not just playing, running around and screaming all day. However, she still has fun.
We searched and searched for the best preschool around the Southlake/ Grapevine/ Colleyville area... and after much searching I found Compass Christian Preschool. The atmosphere is so loving, yet professional and educational. The director is so loving and has the best staff around. My children have loved going there and have learned so much. I always feel welcomed and informed on everything they are learning. I really feel like they have prepared my son for kindergarten and taught him a lot about the Bible. They are very creative in their approach and my children always leave wanting more. We have had the best teachers. I would reccomend a tour of this preschool or go to their website to see all the fantastic things they are doing, www.compasspreschool.com
