  • I''m new here!

Hi!  My family is moving to Southlake on July 1.  We bought  a house in Myers Meadow if anyone else on here is in that development.  I have 4 children, ages 11, 7, 6, and 18 months.  I''ve already signed the three oldest up for football/cheer.  I''m looking over the summer camp options, but I thought I might wait to see what the other kids in the neighborhood are doing.

Enough of that.  I''m looking to meet some moms to hang out with, that have kids about my kids'' ages, and who are like-minded.  Nice to "meet" you!

Hi. We are moving here when school is out too. I have two girls 12 and 7. I have talked to their schools( carroll middle and Johnson Elementary) but how do you sign them up for the other activities and cheer etc? Any help would be great, they are very social and are going to be lost without a lot of friends around them.

Hi, Tracey!  Which neighborhood will you be moving to?  We had an offer in on a house in another neighborhood, but there were 5 other offers, too!

I found sign-ups for fall sports online, though I can't remember which site at the moment.  Maybe just do a Google search for Dragon football or Dragon cheerleading.  And I found a list of all the camps through the Parks and Recreation department thru the SL website.  There are a ton of camps offered, but I was thinking I might wait to see if other kids in the neighborhood were signing up before I committed to camps.  I'd hate for mine to be at camp while the others are playing in the neighborhood!

I found the Parks and Rec website, and there are so many to choose from.  My 12 year old had tried out for cheerleader and made the squad for 7th grade where we are now. I really need to find here a good group of girlfriends. Thanks for your help, I will research it.

There's also a link up top under "Mom's Favorites."  I found that after I posted.

I have a boy starting 6th grade, so I understand wanting to find a good group of friends for that age group.  I think the others will make friends easy enough since they are young, but this tween age is tough!

Hi Ladies!  Welcome to Southlake.  There are so many organizations and groups to get involved in around town.  On this site under community connections you will find links to a lot of the organizations.

Moms are falling all over each other at the schools so you will meet most women through being active there.

Casually, another great way to meet moms is at Central Market.  On Tuesday night they have kids eat free. In the summer everyone goes for dinner and eats out on the patio while the younger kids play on the playground and the older kids and adults listen to live music.  Also in Town Square on Saturday evenings they have live music and everyone takes a blanket, food and drinks and hangs out.

All of the churches around here have great activities too... Bible studies, etc. where you can meet a lot of other women.  The parks and rec do have some great camps for teens and tweens as well as young kids. Good Luck and welcome!

Clarification on my post--Central Market has live music on the weekends not Tuesday nights.  Kids eat free is Tuesday nights

For dragon football and cheer visit www.dragonyouthfootball.net

We're all signed up for football and cheer.  I just sent an email to the cheer person to make sure they have my registration and to ask what we'll do about fittings since we won't be there til July.

Welcome, gals!  Southlake has so many great activities for kids---mine are 5 and 6---we have enjoyed many classes/camps/sports through the Southlake Parks and Recreation Department, the Grapevine/Southlake Soccer Association, the Southlake Baseball (and t-ball!) Association, Top Flight Gymnastics, Studio Art House, Emler Swim School and Lifetime Fitness.  You can also meet other moms through the Southlake MOMS Club and the Grapevine/Colleyville/Southlake Moms' League.  Be sure to get a copy of "Southlake Style" for lots of great info.

    Hi MissMee

Welcome to Southlake!  I also live in Meyers Meadow and we love it here.  I have 4 kids, too.  The ones closest to your kids ages would be my 12 year old boy, and I have a 14 month old boy.  You've started out right by joining the Football PeeWee team.  That is the first thing that I enrolled my kids in and they made friends really fast.  Our neighbordhood is also busy with kids playing outdoors in the summer.  I've never participated in the Parks and Rec camps, so I can't comment on that.  If there are specific activities that your kids enjoy, let me know and I can give suggestions on locations.

Our neighborhood has a playdate group that meets on Friday mornings, but we take a break during the summer.  That will be a great way for your youngest to meet friends.  We also have a book club that meets the 3rd Thursday of each month for the women in the neighborhood.  I think there is also a tennis group that still meets during the week.  I know you can take lessons at our neighborhood tennis courts.    Around July 4th, we will have a neighborhood July 4th parade and social activitiy.  So, that will be a perfect way to meet people as soon as you arrive (if your not too tired from unpacking :))

Again, let me know if you have any specific questions.  And, Welcome to the neighborhood !

Hello my name is Wendy....If you need a housekeeper i have a lot of references in Southlake...you may reach me at 214-499-1090 or email wenvel@yahoo.com

    Thank you

Missy - which street are you on?  I just spoke to a lady named Julie today, and she's going to be sending me a directory.  She mentioned the play group and book clubs.  We'll be there in time for the 4th, so that will be exciting!  How long have you been there?
