Keep it Simple

Have the holiday crazies hit your home yet? I know it is only November, but seems they set in earlier every year. Kinda like the Christmas decorations at Hobby Lobby! At my house, things feel calm… until I glance at my calendar and my then add another person to my gift list. That’s when my eye starts to twitch and I realize I need to get off facebook and getting working! In times like these, I like to remind myself something my Dad always said; “The only way to eat an elephant is one bite at a time.”

So armed with that kernel of wisdom, I am going to do two things. The first one is easy; I am forcing myself to limit our family activities this holiday season. If I want to keep the focus on Christmas, then it is up to me to keep our obligations under control and make time to enjoy the real meaning of the season. Easier said than done, but Christmas only comes once a year and no one can enjoy it if ‘mom goes crazy’.

Second I am going to give meaningful gifts. Remember that long list I mentioned? Well in truth that list is long because it is filled with the names of people we love. People who play a significant role in our lives. Now some of them will be getting gift cards and such. I find that ‘handmade’ isn’t quite as fabulous to men! But I feel there is a need to make a few special gifts. Handmade gifts that are not only fun to make, but gifts that are also pretty simple too.

Samantha Conner

In my “past life” I earned a degree in Education at TCU and taught elementary school. But these days, I am working as a super stay-at-home-mom with a serious craft addiction. Rhonda Sargent Chambers

Rhonda, a former model and owner of RSC Show Productions, considers herself a “naturalized Texan”. After moving to Texas from San Francisco, she began her modeling career at a young age walking runways around the world from Japan to Mexico. She transitioned from full-time modeling to fashion show production with the creation of RSC Show Productions. As an instructor and speaker in the modeling community for over 30 years, she is a respected figure who consults with modeling agencies to develop criteria and guidelines for professional models to follow. Rhonda and her husband Kit have been together more than 20 years. Missy is a stay at home mom who resides with her family in Keller. In her spare time, she enjoys crafting, sewing, decorating and scrapbooking. Maxi Erdmann

I am Maxi Erdmann, and I reside in Keller, TX with my four sweet babies and my husband, Nathan. A University of Oklahoma grad, I love all things SOONER! I love food, but I don’t cook, I love music, but I don’t sing, (except in the shower), and I have a ridiculously expensive obsession with make-up. I have been writing since I could form letters and my mother put a pencil in my hand. Prior to having my third and fourth baby, I was a teacher at Southlake Christian Preschool. Before moving to Texas, I lived in Oklahoma where I spent my days as a full-time mom of twins and part-time make-up artist.
